Sthapatya

Sthatatya Veda is the Vedic knowledge of the constitution and structure of everything, beginning at the smallest particles up to the entire universe.   The practical application of this knowledge is most effective for planning and building human suburbent settlements or single architectural projects. It is a holistic knowledge, i.e. it comprises the perfection of a structure or a building without ommitting any aspect. To meet this prentension the experts of this science had to reach and cultivate higher states of consciousness beside their competent qualifications which is the same in any other Vedic discipline. The results of their systematic work have been towns and palaces which target, appearance and splendour have by far excelled the attainments of our modern civilisation. Evidence of that is given by old scriptures as well as archaeological findings.

The Vedic culture with its settlements belong to the past, but its precious heritage left is the knowledge and literature which has been – thanks to the tradition – cultivated since generations and has thus been preserved at a prominent extent. This ancient holistic science has served as a model and inspiration for further and much later traditional and moderns academies in that field. Probably the best known is Feng Shui, the science from China that is engaged with architectural planning in a very suble way and which methods also originate from the Vedic culture.

In the course of the increasing interest in Vedic knowledge in the last decades the Vedic art of building has been highly esteemed. Nowadays there are various colleges where it is possible to gain knowledge on Sthapatya Veda. In the last years competent project offices have been establieshed which render their services on the planning of both industrial and private projects in consideration of the key principles of Sthapatya Veda

The application of this knowledge already starts with the choice of the site by which the following features have to be observed:

•  Form and size (the relation between the length and the width)

•  Orientation in accordance to the four cardinal points

•  Orientation and grade of inclination

•  Heiight upon sea-level

•  Proximity to calm or running waters

•  Average weather in the area

•  Quality of ground

•  Existing vegetation

•  History of the area and the site

•  Presence of industrial or other objects with negative radiation ( high-tension cables, antennas for telecommunication etc.)

The most important criteria for the planning are:

•  Orientation of object in relation to the cardinal points and the real estate

•  Position of entrance

•  Relation of length, width and height

•  Statics

•  Individual attributes of future owner and residents

•  Intended utilization

•  Division and size of rooms

•  Position and size of windows at walls and roof

•  Selection of building material

•  Selection of future vegetation at the site

In Sthapatya Veda there are some specialties regarding the execution of projects:

•  Precise planning of beginning and completion of the particular phases as well as the whole project. The due dates rely on certain cycles of nature and individual ryhtms in the life of the future owner

•  Characteristics and behaviour of the joining workers and craftsmen

At already finished objects where little or more important deviations from the principles of Sthapatya Veda have been noticed there is, however, the possibility of revisioning.

Objects built according to Sthapatya Veda look good and perfectly integrate into ecological and urban environment and have a positive influence on the residents. Good health, success and easyness at work, soft human relationships, emotions of peace, harmony and satisfaction are being acknowledged by scientific studies and individual experience.
