Jyotish
The term Jyotish has its roots in the word "Jyotir" which signifies light. That means that we are able to understand our predetermined way, our destiny by this science and that we are recognising our strength, thus removing any impodiment by appropriate methods.
Modern science informs us that everything is correlating to each other in a mutual relationship, i.e. nothing can exist isolated. These influences and the resulting laws can be approached by scientists only in those areas measurable with modern equipment and tools. There are people, however, who have developed a much deeper insight and intellectual capacity created by their sublime state of consciousness, thus enabling them to enter into a more profound understanding of energy levels and their inherent laws. In Vedic times the wise men have been an honoured part of society and they were called Rishis or Seer. They have used their wisdom not only for themselves as part of a self-reflective spiritual and esoteric experience, but also to the benefit of a systematic science. They calculated the proportions of celestial bodies and their effect towards our planet with mathematic preciseness. The celestial bodies have been divided into four groups according to their powerful efficacy:
- all planets of our solar system incl. the moon and its two most important positions on its running track, the so-called North and South Node
- the signs of the Zodiac
- the signs the moon is passing on its route as it is perceived from our position on earth
- the other constellations and galaxies
In Jyotish the wise man "Parashara" is said to be the ultimate authority. His magnum opus is the classic Parashara-Hora-Shastra. Many thousands of years ago he has succeeded in scheduling the position of celestial bodies without any technical equipment. Those schedules (ephemerides) indicate even the todays positions with stunning preciseness.
This knowledge has been passed down in accordance with family traditions and was thus being maintained. Beside family traditions, at present it is possible to study this field of knowledge at universities and schools all over the world. Furthermore there are existing many software programms enabling modern astrologers to execute an analysis much faster.
